Colleagues,
I appreciate CM Alter bringing forward Item 98 which asks the city manager to investigate emissions and policy related to gas peaker units and I plan on offering a motion to amend to this item. In the spirit of the resolution's existing goals, the amendment asks for an analysis of how new peaker units will interact with older peaker units: impacts to peaker operating hours, accelerating peaker unit retirements, and how any changes are reflected in emissions.
Specifically, I move to add a fourth item to the objectives under this resolution:
#4. Evaluate the extent to which new gas peakers purchased by Austin Energy will accelerate the timeline to retire the older gas peaker units. Analyze the emissions impact of the timeline acceleration.
Thanks,
-Marc

Re: Amendment to Item 98
Thank you, Council Member Duchen for this helpful addition. I've included it in a version 2 of the resolution and will ask the agenda office to distribute and post it.
