Special Called Meeting, Austin Energy Oversight Committee, Council Work Session Schedule-11/19/24

Council:

There’s a lot on tap for tomorrow. We have a special called meeting, a work session and the Austin Energy Oversight Committee meeting. Plus we will have an executive session.

Here is my plan for organizing our day.

We will begin promptly at 9 AM. I will call to order the special-called meeting. There are two items on the agenda: 1) the canvass of the recent elections for mayor and city council members and 2) setting a runoff election for the race in council district 7.
Travis and Hays Counties have completed their formal canvasses. Williamson County is scheduled to do so tomorrow at 1:30 PM and will provide the city information necessary for us to canvass. So, I will call the special meeting to order at 9:00 AM and we will immediately recess until 2:00 PM. That way, we will have the needed information from Williamson County.

We will take up any public comment at that time, 2:00 PM.

Another note about the special meeting: state law does not require me or any sitting council member who was on this year’s ballot from recusing themselves from the canvass vote. However, I will be recusing myself and the Mayor Pro Tem will run the portion of the meeting where the council votes on item 1.

As soon as we recess the special called meeting, Chair Pool will call to order the Austin Energy Utility Oversight Committee meeting.
Once we close that meeting, we will move to the work session, taking up items B001 and B002.

We will also conduct an executive session at a workable, appropriate time.

Speakers will have 3 minutes per item. They can also donate time. Speakers wishing to donate time must coordinate with the City Clerk prior to being called. All parties (speakers and donors) must be present in person to be eligible for time donations.
