Item 31 Amendment, 2/13/25

Post by Mike Siegel »

Good morning, colleagues,

I’m offering an amendment to Item 31 that should be consistent with the goals of the proposed Downtown Austin Strategic Initiative.

In the context of infrastructure opportunities, I’d like to add study of potential green infrastructure. On the economic and workforce development side, I’m proposing we emphasize workforce safety standards and project labor agreements.

Regarding support for people experiencing homelessness, my office suggests adding additional strategies to complement street outreach. And regarding core partners and stakeholders to include in this process, I’m proposing we add the Central Labor Council, Central Texas Building Trades, and organizations that serve people experiencing homelessness in downtown Austin.

Here is the draft amendment: https://services.austintexas.gov/edims/ ... ?id=445552

I look forward to further discussion.

With respect,
Mike
