Implementation of Austin Water External Review Recs

Colleagues,
Tomorrow (Wed. March 29th) the executive team from Austin Water will present their response to the external review that I called for last February together with my co-sponsors, Council Members Tovo, Fuentes, Ellis, Pool, and Kelly. The presentation is scheduled for a joint Audit and Finance and Austin Water Oversight Committee Meeting at 1:30. Our community has been through a lot over the past few years, and this implementation plan is a key part of rebuilding trust in our utility. Austin Water is not the only department to face recent challenges with staffing, communication, and emergency response, and their response to these challenges carries valuable lessons for other departments and other cities. We can emerge from this process more prepared and more resilient.
Regardless of whether you serve on either of these council committees, I hope that you can join us. I look forward to our discussion tomorrow.
