Colleagues,

I will be bringing Item 33 to Thursday’s agenda, relating to changes in the permitting inspection process for Mobile Food Units.

This amendment to City Code Section 10-3-93 is intended to streamline the permitting inspection process for food truck owners whose units have a regular, fixed location.

Following additional research and consultation that confirms a diversity of needs, I have included updated language around the provision of meaningful language access throughout the permitting inspection process, in order to enhance affordability, foster inclusion and work towards mitigating displacement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:

The City Manager is directed to work with the Austin Public Health Environmental Health Services Division and Language Access staff within the Communications and Public Information Office to ensure equitable and culturally proficient language access throughout the permitting process, to make the process as accessible and inclusive as possible.
