item 59 - e-bikes

Post by Alison Alter »

Dear colleagues,

I offer the following amendment to Item 59, which I hope will be taken as friendly by Council Member Ellis.

Insert after Line 10:

“WHEREAS, In May of 2019 Resolution No. 20190509-020 directed the City Manager to include transportation electrification and action planning within Austin’s climate plan update; and”

I would also like to be added as a cosponsor to this item.

Here is a link to the 2019 resolution: https://www.austintexas.gov/edims/docum ... ?id=319518

Thank you for your leadership on this issue, CM Ellis! I’d also like to propose the following amendments for consideration regarding the equitable expansion of e-Bikes and equitable community outreach:

Amendment #1: https://www.austintexas.gov/edims/docum ... ?id=385454

Amendment #2: https://www.austintexas.gov/edims/docum ... ?id=385393

I would also like to be added as co-sponsor of this item.

Thank you for offering these amendments, CM Fuentes. I accept Amendment #2, and I offer the following alternative language to Amendment #1 (dashes added where the change is suggested):

Amend line - 74 - to include the following:
5. Incentivize the installation of e-bike charging infrastructure, - with greater emphasis and displacement mitigation - in areas that have historically under-developed transportation infrastructures, such as low-income communities and communities of color.

And I appreciate you being added as a cosponsor.

Thank you,
Paige Ellis
