Colleagues,
I would like to thank CM Tovo for sponsoring item 108 on tomorrow’s agenda and am proud to co-sponsor this resolution along with CM Alter, CM Kitchen, and CM Renteria. I fully endorse the childcare vision set out in this document, but also want to make sure that, as we pursue that vision, our staff has the ability to give their full professional recommendations to us as a Council. For that reason, I will be offering up the small amendment linked below that maintains the requirement for staff to include childcare facilities as a community benefit when redeveloping city-owned land, to notify Council of the staff recommendation before a decision is made, and for Council to continue to have a final decision making authority on the matter.
