On behalf of Council Member Harper-Madison:

Colleagues,

Attached is our proposed revised draft of the resolution that will be distributed on the dais tomorrow.

We as a municipality have an excellent opportunity tomorrow to convert a tragic scenario into transformative action that makes Austin a beacon of hope not only for our residents and our men and women in uniform but also for the rest of the country. I look forward to working with each of you collaboratively to perfect what I believe could be a historically important resolution.

Council Member Harper-Madison,

Thank you for bringing this resolution and for creating the opportunity for us to acknowledge that we have a problem and take action. I would like to propose some amendments (linked below) with the goal of helping ensure we achieve the outcomes we desire and also allow flexibility with the cadet academy start date such that all anticipated 2020 academies may proceed so long as APD achieves the milestones outlined in the resolution. My hope with these proposals is that they will be taken as friendly amendments.

I look forward to hearing from the community this evening and to the discussion on the dais.
