Re: Waiver of City Rental and Other Fees

Colleagues The city's disaster declaration serves as the authority to waive city rental and other fees at this point. Currently that declaration extends until May 1st, and any extension will serve to lengthen the time period for these waivers. We are working with staff on this issue, and will bring ...

Re: Financial aid to Austinites

Colleagues Thank you to everyone's comments - I appreciate everyone's thoughts and ideas and am heartened to see concrete actions that we can take on April 9th to support staff efforts and provide direct assistance and support for those hard hit by COVID-19, including city staff. I am also looking f...

Re: Financial aid to Austinites

Mayor Pro Tem Thank you for sharing this information and thank you for pursuing options for the city to provide direct financial assistance. As you mentioned, some residents may not be able to qualify for the federal stimulus because they aren't employees - they may be independent contractors or hav...

Waiver of City Rental and Other Fees

Colleagues I wanted to let everyone know that my office is exploring how the city can defer and/or waive fees for people financially suffering from COVID-19. For example, we are hearing from constituents requesting assistance deferring rent where the city is the landlord, certain business fees relat...

Senior Well Checks

Colleagues I wanted to provide an update and a bit more detail than what I said on the dais at the Council meeting. My office is creating an outreach program to provide well-check calls for seniors in District 5. We are learning from the work that CM Flannigan mentioned with Rep Bucy and are coordin...

Re: SXSW Resilience Plan

Hi All My thought is that it would be important to call out the undocumented workforce, for the reasons that CM Tovo suggested. I think to address the concerns that CM Flannigan raised, the "including, but not limited to," would work - allowing us to mention this vulnerable population spec...

Thanks All

On item #31 - so 9 months made sense to me for the contract term. We will also ask staff to report back to Mobility Committee in August so we can have a conversation at that time.

Re: Item 31 - Bike Share of Austin

CM Flannigan I think I understand your concern now - with the length of the contract. I suggest a one year term, with an extension of one year. That avoids unnecessarily stopping this contract at a time where we will likely still be dealing with this crisis. Again, the amount is only $168,000 and wi...

But, I think we can also accommodate the need for further discussion at the August Mobility Committee and an understanding / discussion about t...

Re: COVID19 Response

Thank you Mayor Pro Tem for raising this issue. Here are some ideas that I'd like to discuss together as part of the briefing: 1). What programs can the city staff fund and/or create immediately? As the Mayor Pro Tem identified, staff can take some actions immediately and that is likely the quickest...

Re: March Council Meetings

Thanks CM. Flannigan Yes I would think we could keep 55 on consent. It is important for the Council to move forward on this. Regardless, I think 55 should stay on the agenda, because if everything doesn't get added by the meeting = then I would expect additional amendments might be minimal and we ca...

Re: March Council Meetings

Thank you Mayor I think this works, with one suggestion. I would suggest adding a briefing from the City Manager on the status of the city's COVID19 response.
