Fire Audit resolution for June 15

Below is a resolution I will be sponsoring with CMs Alter, Troxclair, and the Mayor for June 15th. Posting this to the message board two weeks before the meeting to give ample time for feedback. As noted in the final paragraph, the Auditor's Office may bring back results in parts as relevant or poss...

Student Commission

On Item 9 for the Student Commission... I am 100% supportive of creating this body. I do have some thoughts on its composition and other details. Since the creation of commissions have come back to us as code amendments, I'm hoping the sponsors would accept making Thursday's resolution less prescrip...

Re: May 11 Council Meeting

I'm in favor of having just a quorum to postpone the necessary items. If we do any more than that, I think we should just have the full meeting. I'm happy to be here as part of the quorum.

Re: Item 30 Allandale and Rosedale Planning Area Boundaries

I still have some questions about this change. I think the planning area boundaries should follow logical planning principles, not just neighborhood association lines. I think it makes much more sense to plan the proposed area with Rosedale and keeping Hancock as the border between areas rather than...

Re: Departmental Budget Review on 4/12

It might be worth a test to just go right to Q&A. 4 departments over 3 hours seems like a challenge based on previous work sessions! We can use this opportunity to see how effective it is to skip the presentations. I'm comfortable with asking just a few questions round-robin as well... the diffi...

Council Committee Proposal

During yesterday’s Council Work Session I believe we had a productive conversation regarding the long-term future of the committee structure and I have begun to incorporate some of the feedback into my proposal: fewer committees, with clearly-defined purposes, and that result in productive work. I a...

Economic Oppor...

Re: Intergovernmental Appointments

I'm excited for the opportunity to serve on CAMPO and hope that such an appointment will be confirmed. As I've told several of my colleagues before, I feel District 6 is uniquely positioned to represent the intersection of Austin and regional issues I am willing and ready to serve in that capacity.

"Parts of the city with rapid growth"

CM Kitchen spoke about "parts of the city with rapid growth" at last night's meeting with CAG on CodeNext (in the video, Item 2 @ 5:30pm). I didn't have the opportunity to express this at the time, but I wanted to point out that the areas with the most growth are Districts 5 and 6. The Aud...
