Re: Financial aid to Austinites

All:

Mayor Pro Tem Garza and I, along with several of you, will be posting 1) a resolution related to the above and 2) a budget amendment to create the Relief In a State of Emergency (RISE) fund, which will allow these programs to be funded immediately. We'll get you copies as soon as we can.

Re: Anti-Eviction Ordinance on 3/26 agenda

Thank you for this question, CM Flannigan. This ordinance only applies to "impacted tenants" which is defined as a tenant who loses wages or income during the local disaster. I hope this addresses your concern.

Re: Direction for potential Equity Overlay

Thank you MPT Garza. I think an Equity Overlay is a powerful idea. We know we need more housing in our city, and we need a stronger focus on anti-gentrification and equity. This gets us both. I look forward to supporting the Equity Overlay and a land development code that will prioritize keeping wor...

Thank you, Mayor, for laying out the next few months. I agree with the goals you’ve described for our first reading. In particular, I do not believe we should draft technical code and map amendments until we are closer to our final product. I also agree with CM Ellis that we should address the SOS o...

Re: Phased Approach Proposal

Mayor: Thanks for this. I think it’s a really positive development that we recognize in our ordinance that people need housing and services, first and foremost, because even with our clarifications to the ordinance, we can’t truly succeed until we house people. I’m also glad that the areas of policy...
