Item 28 - Pay for Success

I remain concerned about Item 28, which is a project under Pay for Success... but Travis County has pulled out of the program. I felt very surprised when we learned this first a few weeks ago and I do not feel sufficiently informed about the impacts of that change. I will talk to staff more about it...

Thank you Mayor, I agree with the direction you've laid out. I would hope that we can keep Item 55 on the consent agenda as it is related to the crisis at hand. I encourage other CMs to join in on the 3/11 message board post (thanks Ann for adding your thoughts!) so we can keep this on consent. We w...

SXSW Resilience Plan

Hello Colleagues, After yesterday's work session, and hearing general support for exploring the City's role in addressing the economic fallout of the cancellation of SXSW on the Austin community, I am working on a resolution for the March 26th meeting. I know that several community and grassroots re...

Re: Direction for a Heritage Tree Preservation Bonus

Thanks CM Ellis for this! I think this is great direction and would be interested in seeing this concept applied to more of our city's goals. If we are more context-sensitive like we want, then we should be able to improve multiple metrics AND get the units we need. And hopefully we can do this in a...

Re: Scope and Schedule for 1st Reading Action on draft Land Development Code revision

I also agree with the scope and goals as outlined above – that discussion at the Council’s first reading should focus on high level policy and that line-by-line amendments and map revisions should be discussed once the major issues with the code have been addressed. I agree that the Planning Commiss...

Clarity needed on camping ordinance

Colleagues & City Manager, Upon reflecting on last week’s special called meetings, it seemed that while there was some broad debate in certain areas, there was also much agreement that additional clarity was desired for the camping ordinance. It also seemed clear that we’re not going to reach th...

Homelessness: Let's keep our focus on solutions

We both recognize that clearly this isn’t going well and people from all directions are feeling that. The rollout and communication around the June changes have been challe...

Re: Economic Development Corporation and Local Government Corporation IFCs

Glad to see this will be on the August 8th agenda! As Chair of the Capital Area Economic Development District board (at CAPCOG), this is a key focus area for me. An Economic Development Corporation can help us better leverage resources for the city, the community, and with partners in our region. I'...

Postponement of procurement items

In light of the recent changes to revenues and fees approved by the Texas Legislature, I think it would be prudent to postpone the following purchasing items to our June 20th Council Meeting. This will allow staff more time to inform the council about the full impact of these legislative changes. It...
