Colleagues,
At the first Work Session of the year (January 29), the plan is to have a discussion about Council Committees and Planning Commission Appointments.
Council Committees:
Per Ordinance 20180510-019, Council Committee membership will be determined at the first council work session of the calendar year. Per the ordinance:
- Council Members will select the council committees on which they serve.
- If more than five council members desire to serve on any committee, that committee will be a committee of the whole.
- The terms are one year, but council may consider changes to council committee membership at any council work session.
The current Council Committees are:
- Audit and Finance Committee
- Austin Energy Utility Oversight Committee
- Health and Human Services Committee
- Housing and Planning Committee
- Judicial Committee
- Mobility Committee
If any Council Members have an interest in stepping down from a current committee post and/or, if any colleagues have an interest in joining any of these committees, we can start the conversation here. Feel free to comment.
Planning Commission members:
The terms of all Planning Commissioners expire in June 2019, but with the recent charter change, there is more flexibility for the timing of appointments. Last year, council said that we would have a discussion about Planning Commission appointments as a body. We would like to start this conversation at the Jan 29 work session.
Intergovernmental Entitles:
We also plan to talk about Intergovernmental entities during this time. You can find a list of those here:
