Good Afternoon,

Council Member Flannigan would like to propose the following amendment to Item 46 – Mayor Pro Tem’s Major League Soccer Resolution.

http://assets.austintexas.gov/austincou ... 170936.pdf

Council Member Flannigan’s amendment simply substitutes the phrase “residential neighborhoods” with the term “communities” in the first bullet point under the Be It Resolved section in the original resolution. The intent of Council Member Flannigan’s amendment is to simply broaden this section to insure that traffic and other potential impacts are evaluated for all properties in the adjacent communities including businesses, schools, places of worship, and public facilities.

If Mayor Pro Tem Tovo and the co-sponsors are agreeable, we would respectfully ask that this minor change be incorporated into a revised draft that can be uploaded as late backup to Thursday’s Council Agenda so that the item can remain on the consent agenda.

Regards,

Greetings,

Council Member Kitchen would like to propose the following amendment to Item 46 for Council consideration. The amendment would broaden the analysis of City-owned sites from urban core to potential sites throughout Austin that might be appropriate for a soccer stadium as well as practice fields and ancillary uses for an MLS team and surrounding community.

Good day,

Council Member Ora Houston will be offering a friendly amendment to include specific consideration for the Travis County Exposition Center, and a local sports group whom has expressed interest in the conversation.

MPT Tovo, thanks for bringing your resolution relating to Major League Soccer. I am intrigued by the possibilities, too, and see the opportunities very broadly. So what I will propose when we bring this item up for discussion is to remove all names and specific team references so that we may have the widest possible discussion on this topic.

I also agree with CM Houston that we should remove the "urban core" limitation and instead consider all parts of the city, so that the physical boundaries being considered are as broad as the scope of this discussion.

Thanks.
