Item 48 – Proposed Amendment
Posted: Mon Nov 06, 2017 5:08 pm
Good Afternoon,
Council Member Flannigan would like to propose the following amendment to Item 48 – Council Member Garza’s Family Homestead Initiative Resolution.
http://assets.austintexas.gov/austincou ... 170707.pdf
The intent of Council Member Flannigan’s amendment is to broaden the Be It Resolved sections in the original resolution so that it covers expanding or remodeling any residential property that is a person’s homestead and principal residence. As the original resolution (that is in backup) is currently written it appears that the resolution only covers single-family structures and thus inadvertently excludes certain types of residential structures including duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, townhomes, condos, and other residential uses that could also be homeowner occupied.
Council Member Flannigan’s amendment simply replaces the phrase “single-family” with the term “homesteaded residential” which would then allow these other types of residential housing to be included in the Family Homestead Initiative.
If Council Member Garza and the co-sponsors are agreeable, we would respectfully ask that these minor changes be incorporated into a revised draft that can be uploaded as late backup to Thursday’s Council Agenda so that the item can remain on the consent agenda.
Regards,
