OT1.06 Transportation/Public Wrks CIP Spending by District

Post by Don Zimmerman »

Council Member Colleagues,

Please see the below analysis of the Austin Transportation (ATD) and Public Works Department (PWD) CIP FY2017 budget based on Budget Question #106
(ref: http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/budget/cbq/i ... 2054CCDACF).
This pertains to Concept Menu Item OT1.06.

OT1.06: For the Transportation and Public Works CIP budget, have at least 5% of the money allocated going to each district.

The City’s spending plan for ATD and PWD is expected to be $48,270,953.

Since there are needs throughout the city, each District should get a minimal amount. CM Troxclair and I are proposing that each District get at least 5% of the total ATD/PWD CIP budget. This would more fairly redistribute the over-all CIP spending for projects throughout the entire city.

The Current Distribution of CIP for FY2017 is:
District-------------Funds----------% of Total
DISTRICT 9-------$14,882,131----30.8%
DISTRICT 4---------$7,705,913----16.0%
DISTRICT 7---------$6,036,384----12.5%
DISTRICT 8---------$5,028,597----10.4%
DISTRICT 1---------$3,818,866-----7.9%
DISTRICT 2---------$2,733,985-----5.7%
DISTRICT 5---------$1,590,724-----3.3%
DISTRICT 10--------$1,445,025----3.0%
DISTRICT 3----------$1,196,961----2.5%
DISTRICT 6------------$668,514-----1.4%
Unknown District--$3,163,854----6.6%

This inequity is very similar to the 2012 Mobility Bond Allocation which can be found at http://austincouncilforum.org/viewtopic ... +bond#p533
