Mobility Committee Meeting Backup Material

Post by Donna Tiemann »

Posted on behalf of Council Member Ann Kitchen:

All,

Attached are two resolutions for the Mobility Committee's consideration, which the Committee may choose to send onto the full Council as a starting point for discussion of a proposed bond package in November 2016.

The resolution (regarding a 2016 bond package) proposes an approach as a starting point for discussion that:
(1) Tracks the priorities people expressed during Mobility Talks (corridor improvements, transit, sidewalks),
(2) Preserves funding for other needs in 2018 like flooding mitigation, parks, libraries
(3) Preserves funding for transformative mobility improvements identified through major planning initiatives such as the Strategic Mobility Plan, Connections 2025, Strategic Housing Plan, and/or the Regional High Capacity Transit Plan
(4) Avoids raising property taxes

The second resolution (regarding a 2018 bond committee) establishes an approach to begin the public input process for considering proposed bond packages for 2018, which tracks the longer, more involved process typically followed.

Whether they drive, walk, cycle or use transit, people living in all parts of our city need transportation options - so people can choose safe, affordable, timely options for how they get around, at the time they need it. A well-connected transportation system, with all options, is necessary to our quality of life.

These resolutions are offered as a starting point for discussion as the Committee and the Council begins to address what transportation improvements we should address in light of the Mobility Talks results.
