Council Member Pool's Budget Initiatives

Post by Michael Gaudini »

The following message is from Council Member Pool:

"Colleagues, thank you so much for your positive response to the various initiatives that I'm sponsoring: Healthy Corner Stores, student internship programs, and parks, among other items. My sincere appreciation all around."

Council Member Pool would also like to provide background material (found by clicking on the link below) on her budget initiatives to:
• Help corner stores in underserved, low/moderate-income areas offer healthy foods;
• Improve parks in underserved areas;
• Expand summer camp opportunities in underserved neighborhoods;
• Provide internship opportunities for underserved youth;
• Keep our libraries open at existing service levels;
• Invest in books, music, movies, digital materials, and other materials for our libraries;
• Invest in much-needed improvements at one of Austin's most-used pools;
• Increase transparency for CodeNEXT policymaking;
• Equalize funding for Austin's Chambers of Commerce;
• Cut the proposed $3.8 million in spending on a controversial new gas plant; and
• Expand financial assistance for Austin Energy customers.
