Feb. 12, 2019 Housing and Planning Committee Meeting

Post by Greg Casar »

Colleagues,

I want to invite you to attend the Housing and Planning Committee meeting on Tuesday, February 12, 10am-1pm in the City Council Chambers. The Committee will discuss NHCD’s plan to implement the Austin Strategic Housing Blueprint, including the Consolidated Plan and 2018 Affordable Housing Bond.

The staff’s backup material on such a big topic would take hours to be presented at the committee meeting (their powerpoint presentation is dozens and dozens of slides). For this reason, we’ve asked the staff to post all materials publicly on or before Monday February 4th. This way, the staff will forgo making a long presentation, and instead the staff can spend time answering questions from the Council Members on specific topics, and Council Members and the community can have a conversation rather than just a presentation.

Please do read the backup material and come with your questions to the committee meeting. We’ll be covering important topics like:
- Short Term Blueprint Implementation Work Plan
- Displacement Mitigation Strategy
- Affordable Housing Bond Implementation Strategy
- Acquisition & Disposition Strategy
- Low Income Housing Tax Credit Strategy
- Preservation Strategy
- Resource Needs
- Timeline
- Council Resolution Statuses

I’m looking forward to working on these issues with all of you in the coming year.

Thanks,
Greg
