Item 54 - Taxis Amendment - June 28 Agenda

Colleagues,

As I mentioned at Tuesday’s work session, I will be making a motion on Thursday to amend Item 54 to allow more types of vehicles to be operated as taxicabs.

I will motion to amend Subsection (A) of City Code Section 13-2-489 (Vehicle Design and Age Requirement), which currently reads:

§ 13-2-489 - VEHICLE DESIGN AND AGE REQUIREMENTS.
(A) The body design of a vehicle to be used as a taxicab is limited to the following:
(1) a sedan, station wagon, or sport utility vehicle with at least four doors for passenger loading and unloading and with front and rear seats; and
(2) a full-size van or minivan with at least three doors for passenger loading and unloading and with front and rear seats.


to be amended to read as follows:

§ 13-2-489 - VEHICLE DESIGN AND AGE REQUIREMENTS.
(A) The body design of a vehicle to be used as a taxicab is limited to a vehicle with at least three doors for passenger loading and unloading and with front and rear seats.
